Other Info: I decided to register with co-parentmatch after reading an article in the NYTimes about co-parenting. It inspired me to try and help those in need of a sperm donor, specifically those with a so-called "alternative" family profile. Briefly, I am 34 years old. 6 feet 2 inches tall. I believe i would be considered moderately attractive according to social norms. I am 50% Italian, 25% German, 25% English. I am gay and am happily partnered for over 3 years. I have never had a sexually transmitted disease and have never been promiscuous, in fact, I'm quite the germaphobe :-) I have a quiet personality and am somewhat introverted, however, am intellectually curious and love science. I earned a PhD in biology and am currently in the process of becoming an academic. I have a healthy muscular build and come from a family of hardy people. I consider my health to be robust. However, I must note that I do have an identified genetic abnormality, that is quite common (5% of the population has this mutation). It is called Factor V Leiden mutation and can be looked up on wikipedia. I am heterozygous, meaning I have one normal and one abnormal version of the gene. It was discovered after I suffered a blood clot after a long interval of bed rest. It is a mutation I inherited from my father via my grandmother, who is currently nearing 90 years of age. Thus some genetic counseling is probably advisable. I like to think that it is a benefit that I and you know my shortcomings and everyone has them, but most don't know the genetic ones :-). I will stress that to my knowledge the mutation has little prognostic value and is not something that is usually tested for or is necessarily associated with predicting future blood clots.
