I am a 39 year man currently in a committed 10 year relationship with another gay man. I have a successful career in IT, had a 3.8 GPA in college and am an active cyclist and gym goer. I have no heritable illnesses, a good family history of people living very long (>80 for almost all), no disabilities, no STI/STD and never had any, no cancer or auto immune illnesses, and am willing to submit for any testing requested. I can read Spanish, Latin and some Italian, I have developed software and apps for computers and phones, and I was in the Honors Society in college.
As a gay man, I realize I don't have many options. Mothers hold a cherished place in our lives for this reason. But, I wanted to put myself out there and try. Fatherhood is a dream of mine and has been for the last 10 years. I know I would make a great father and platonic partner or donor. I can help make you a mother. I simply ask to be allowed to be the best father and co-parent I can be.
I want to say that I am open to being a donor only with no or limited contact. I believe having children should be more accessible and that everyone should be able to have that experience.
However, my dream would be to be a father and be in my child's life. That means I want to have regular contact.
For personal reasons, even though the idea of a natural pregnancy appeals to me, I am most comfortable with doing AI. For co-parenting, this does mean we would need to do extra paperwork after the child's birth. Donors do not get parental rights automatically, so as a donor this doesn't apply.
Either way, I have very good counts, am a healthy donor, and will continue with the process until pregnancy is achieved.
I will require donor contracts signed pre and post birth to ensure that all of our rights are protected.
