Other Info:
There is more to me than just the options selected for this profile. I am serious and sincere about wanting to be a father, not just a good friend or "uncle" who is always nearby. I want to give the nurture and support that only a father can give to his own child, just as I got this from my own father. \r\n\r\nI am a librarian by profession, but my life in not all about books. I also train in the martial arts and lift weights, 2-3 times a week. A sound and strong body complements a sound mind.\r\n\r\nFor many years I was operating on the hope that I would find the right woman and settle down to start a family. Life has not turned out that way for me, so I am looking for another way to have a child. I do not believe that being a co-parent is an inferior or "second best" way of doing this, just an alternative method. \r\n\r\nI want to be able to go to: school plays, family vacations, sports and other events, help with (or insist on) getting homework done, worry about too much candy or too little vegetables in the diet - these are among the things of fatherhood that I want to be a part of in the life of my child. At the same time, I know fully well that this also includes trips to the dentist, weekly (or more) stops at the supermarket, as well as worrying about bills and other expenses. I am not only looking at the fun, good, or "nice" things in life. I understand that children get sick, and have issues throughout life while learning to be responsible and productive people. To be honest, there are the temper tantrums, the testing of the limits set by the parent, and even times of outright defiance. While I am not particularly looking forward to experiencing these things, judging by what it was like for me and my parents, going through this is part and parcel of raising children. It is how the parent deals with these matters, and teaches the child how to grow and flourish in the positive direction, that the real measure of success or failure is achieved. There are a lot of hurdles and obstacles involved with raising a child, and I am ready to do this with the person who shares my beliefs and values, the same ones that are to be imparted to the child.\r\n\r\nThis is a description of who I am and what is important to me. I will send my photograph in response to a serious note of reply. If this is of interest to you, and you would like to know more about me, I am ready to talk and get to know you.
