Hello, I have just started looking into becoming a donor, so I am researching the best approach to this. I am looking into donor banks, etc. I have a regular physical coming up in the next couple of months, so I am going to bring the subject up with my doctor. I plan to use the services of local donor banks so that I can compile detailed medical information that is important to donations.I thought briefly about this years ago, but was not motivated enough to research the info. Also, the internet makes it much easier to match people now. My motivations are: 1. Having read stories about singles and couples who desperately wanted children, I felt it would be fulfilling to make someones dream come true. Kinda a Karma thing. 2. I feel I have good genes to pass on. Hopefully, I will find a mate for myself soon, but I want to spread the wealth before I tie the knot. There is no guarantee that a future wife would allow this, so now is the time while I am single. 3. My brother recently had a son. My nephew, Max, has opened my eyes to how rewarding it is to bring life into the world. I always assumed that raising a child would be torture, but Max is a piece of cake so far. My mother tells me that my siblings and I were real easy as infants and toddlers. Sleep all night, never complain, fun loving, curious, fast development. I am hoping I have those genes. Physical: Caucasian male Born January 1968 5'9" 160 lbs Blood Type O+ Dark Brown hair, Brown eyes Portuguese (Europe) background on both sides. All grandparents lived into late 80's, Current parents are alive, father=76, mother=63, no serious physical problems, no medications or treatments. No evidence of baldness (get this from my mother whose family all had hair into their 80's), father lost some hair late in his 60's No current chronic medical conditions, no history of serious disease, never had any STD's, skin tends to be acne prone when younger Physically fit, play sports (Ice Hockey), weight lifting, cardio, used to run Cross-country track in HS. Education: Graduated with B.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. May1990. Continuing education in advanced Information technology subjects like Software Development and Programming, System Architecture, Administration. Career: Employed at a major business services firm for Fortune 500 companies for past 10 years in Information Technology. My position requires me to design and build complex computer software systems and constantly upgrade my technical skills to keep pace with the industry. Social and interests: I maintain a tight circle of friends. I am very loyal to my family and friends and always look for ways to use my skills to help. I tend to be more of a homebody, not the party animal type (my parents appreciated this when I was a teenager). When I was younger, I was very focused on my education and was considered an outstanding student. My spare time was reading and hobbies like electronics and mechanics. As I have gotten older, I still have many of these traits which have made my career easy, but I am balancing more in athletics and social realm. I spent several years in equestrian activities learning and competing in horse jumping events. I have spent a considerable amount of hobby time in photography being senior editor in both HS and College. I never considered myself artistic enough to pursue a career in creative areas like photography, but still indulge. Religion: Parents raised me Catholic, but no longer practicing since high school. I am not religious in a dogmatic sense, but like to think there is some higher purpose to life than mere biology. I have a strong sense of morals, but understand that morality is largely governed by culture.
