Other Information about me/us

Other Info: I am a 35 year old single woman. I have always had a yearning to help people which eventually let me to my career in Community Rehabilitation and assisting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. I live in Airdrie and work in Calgary as a supervisor in Disability Services. I am passionate about people including my family and friends but also anyone who needs assistance. I am financially stable and own my own home and have worked at the same agency for the past 12 years. I was born and raised in Calgary and moved to Airdrie about 3 years ago.

My educational background is in Social Work and I eventually plan on getting my Bachelor's Degree. Within the field of Community Disability Services, I also work directly with two women with disabilities within my home to assist them in being included in the community, develop connections/ friendships as well as teach them home living skills such as cooking and cleaning.

I enjoy watching Hockey and going to games, camping, and working on things around the house. I enjoy doing art projects such as stained glass and other crafts and knitting.

I do not have and have never had any sexually transmitted diseases/infections and have been tested on a couple occasions to ensure my safety. I have never been tested for fertility and have never actively tried to become pregnant.

What has brought me to this process is this everlasting feeling that one of my purposes in this life is to care for a child of my own and have a family. I have always wanted to be a mother however unfortunately I haven't found a partner who has been the right match for me. I have been single for the past 3 years other than a few short term relationships I have pursued but haven't turned into anything lasting. Before that I was engaged to someone who I truly believed I would share a family and a life with. Morally I always felt and believed that I wanted/need to be married before trying to have children however after finding out that he was having an affair lead to me having to leave the 10 year relationship. Although at the time it was difficult I am now in a place in my life where I realize that there may never be a perfect time to have a family and that now is as good of time as any to take matters into my own hands and fulfill my purpose of being a parent.

I am regularly told that I am a hard worker, generous, have a kind heart, and would make a great mother. I am at a point in my life where I am happy and settled however I feel like one thing is missing in my life which is having a child. I have always felt a purpose for helping others and believe that there would be no greater joy that to have a child of my own to take care of.

Ideally I am looking for a donor who is strictly looking to donate without any parental rights or responsibilities but with that being said I have opened my eyes since joining this site and have become more open to the possibility of co-parenting should I meet a donor who I feel is compatible with my values and beliefs and who would be capable of working with me to raise a child. In terms of a method for donation I am assuming the easiest and possibly the most comfortable means of donation would be through home insemination however I would be open to using NI as a possibility should I meet someone who is open to that and all the practices were in place to ensure both of our safety.

I am new to this so I am not even sure how to go about the process of completing any contracts or where to receive medical testing/screening for this process so I am hoping to meet someone who has gone through the process. I am assuming that the process may take several attempts and would be open to accommodating the donor as much as possible to make things as simple as they can be. I realize timing and patience are probably the most important tools that will ensure success.
