Hello!
I am a physician in New Orleans, originally from Minnesota, but educated in New Orleans and New York, and now in New Orleans to stay. I am of English, Swedish, Norwegian and German heritage, although I consider myself multicultural as I have lived several different countries and speak 5 languages fluently. I was formerly an Assistant Professor at a prestigious institution in New York, and I am now a professor at two different universities in New Orleans with a fellowship in Advanced Ultrasound and a focus in Global Health. I have worked extensively with humanitarian organizations, and work regularly with Doctors Without Borders. I was a successful two-sport athlete in high school (football and track), though I have always been academically inclined. I was Student Body President in college, taught high school in an inner-city school in New Orleans prior to med school, and I love music, art history, and deep discussions about philosophy, literature, politics and science. I operate a successful Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans, and my parents now live a block away and help me run it in their retirement. I have traveled extensively, having visited over 30 different countries, and have recently developed a love of sailing. I am a musician by hobby (guitar and trumpet), and belong to several different social organizations (Mardi Gras Krewes) in New Orleans. I consider myself a true empath, which is part of the reason I love my job. Social and political causes are very important to me, and I lean far to the left politically.
I am on this website because although I have always wanted to be a father, it just hasn't happened. I am a loving father to my two best friends' children, but I am looking for more. I was in a committed relationship for several years, and after an unplanned pregnancy that resulted in an abortion, I have always thought "What If?" Since that time, despite my trying for several years, I just haven't found anyone I've wanted to have children with.
I have a busy lifestyle, and I don't know to what extent I would like to be involved in the lives of any children that result from me making this profile. However, just as I am in my personal life, I plan to be very selective about whom I engage with. I would never want to participate in bringing a child into an environment that isn't loving, supportive, and allows them to be who they are.
