I was born and raised in New York. As per 23andMe, my ethnic breakdown is as follows: 88% British Irish, approximately 40% of Irish and Scottish, and 20% of English. I am also 6% of German and Spanish. After serving in the US Army as a tactical nuclear missile operator in Germany during the Cold War that had begun to wind down in the late 1980s, I attended the University of Virginia, earning a BA degree in government with a minor in economics in 1991 after which I accepted a position in pharmaceutical sales. I subsequently worked for many years in executive sales and marketing for several multinational biopharmaceutical companies. I was able to retire comfortably at the age of 50, and now
I reside in both Maine and New York. However, I travel quite a bit.
