Other Info:
We are a stable, committed couple who has done everything we possibly could to conceive using our combined genetic material for the last 3 years. We are now seeking a sperm donor to help us grow our family.
We are hoping to find a sperm donor that is willing to be known by the child at any age they request, though with minimal to no proactive involvement from the donor (unless requested by the child) unless it is medically relevant - however, we're open to discussions on this based on a potential donor's preferences and motivations. . As most US sperm banks still limit contact until the child turns 18, we are exploring options for a donor who would be open to contact initiated by the child at any age they request. We are hoping to find a donor who is willing to sign a legal contract with agreed upon parameters, including a clause that allows for discussion, adaptation and rearrangement of said parameters should necessitating life circumstances arise. We’d like to find a donor with features and characteristics as similar to Jesse as possible, though are mostly invested in finding a genuine person who knows what they are (and are not) doing this for.
About Emily: From coastal North Carolina. Healthy, just-turned-38, no previous pregnancies. 5’2”, athletic, curvy build, blue eyes, natural light blonde hair, health care provider now working in global public health. Kind, funny, highly empathetic, active/outdoorsy, likes gardening but isn’t great at it, stellar bonus-mom to Jesse's two beautiful children, and very intentional about cultivating strong bonds with family, friends, community, promoting healing and growth for all things, and the value of experiential learning. Recent health screening from our recent IVF cycle did show that she is a carrier of the CF gene, so we would request that any potential donor show proof of screening or consider getting screened.
About Jesse: From northern New York/Adirondacks. Healthy, 40 year old male, 6’2”, very athletic, blue/green/gray eyes, brown hair, two healthy children from a previous relationship with sudden onset azoospermia of unknown origin. U.S. Navy veteran, mechanically minded and service oriented, excellent home chef, now working in global health infrastructure. Excellent sense of humor, intelligent, kind, thoughtful and very involved in his childrens' lives, has the best dog in the entire world.
We have no family history of conditions which would put either of us at risk for being unable to parent our child in the foreseeable future. We are both gainfully employed, get regular health checks. We do not smoke, we do not abuse substances and we drink minimal alcohol. We have excellent taste in music, movies and food (we think so, anyway…).
About our family: We have been together for 8 years so far and intend to keep it that way. We were both previously in kind (but not sustainable) long term relationships before finding each other. Emily has been a loving and invested bonus-mom to Jesse’s children and we are very invested in continuing our stable, loving, accepting, committed family dynamic with all of our children. We both come from supportive extended families that have step- and half- and adopted family members, and are confident that we will raise our child to be confident and secure about who they are, and who their family is. We spend a lot of time outdoors, we have worked, lived and traveled all over the world (and intend to keep doing so with our children!), and we value integrity, service, work ethic, honesty, open communication, and learning through experience, open discussion, fun, play and humor. We are not religious, though our value systems include concepts of spirituality, connection and purpose.
