Other Info:
My interest in this program stems largely from the experiences of a few close friends, each of whom has had some difficulty in conceiving and each of whom has been helped by a program like this one. I hope my efforts can support people like them, people who want to build loving families and forge new relationships. With that in mind, a few of the aforementioned friends recommended I preemptively answer a few common questions, below, to give those interested some measure of insight into the kind of person I am. I hope it helps! What family member or mentor do you most closely identify with? I most closely identify with my wonderful mother, whose drive, dedication, and reliability have been well worth emulating as I’ve grown into my own. Her wry sense of humor is reflected in my own and we have plenty of inside jokes to spare whenever we see one another. We share a lot of passions and I have fond memories of her teaching me to cook and to garden, though to this day I’ve yet to match her talent for baking, despite my efforts. What would you like to pass on to your children? If I am ever so fortunate as to have children, I hope that I can pass on my empathy and my ability to remain calm and aware in even the most stressful of situations. I feel these traits, or techniques, have helped me navigate the world, to protect myself, and to connect with people in a variety of ways, both cross-culturally and in unfamiliar settings. As a result, I believe I’ve been able to forge stronger bonds and build the kind of lasting relationships that have served to improve my life in more ways than I can likely imagine. What traits do you most admire in a person? I most admire curiosity, and with it a dedication, a tenacity, and a drive to start and see something through to an end. I find many of the most interesting and the most successful people I have known to have had these traits in abundance and I cannot help but admire them as a result. For what is life without curiosity, without a sense for adventure and excitement, and what is all of that without the drive and belief in oneself to take a chance, to chase it down. What is still on your bucket list? When I have the opportunity, I hope one day to travel the South Pacific Ocean; to sail from island to island on warm currents and bask in the sun near tropical atolls. I have been enamored with the region since I was a child first learning of the great explorers and pirates of the distant past and I’ve never quite gotten the dreams out of my head. It is in those places where you can still find land pristine and untouched by human hands; reefs clear and clean; tropical forests yet to be explored. With any luck I’ll be able to meet an old friend and anthropologist on Vanuatu for her wedding one day and watch the volcanoes grumble in the distance.
